EQUIPMENT AND PROCEDURES

For the purpose of programme content and conduct of training and checking on equipment and procedures,
1. ‘emergency equipment’ should be understood as equipment installed/carried to be used in case of abnormal and emergency situations that demand immediate action for the safe conduct of the flight and protection of occupants including life preservation (e.g. drop-out oxygen, axe, fire extinguisher, protective breathing equipment, manual release tool; slide raft).
• Validity 3 years

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

To identify a potential or actual fire hazard and have the knowledge required to remove any of the elements that support a fire.
Trainees must learn to handle extinguishing agents and apply these agents in the most effective manner while containing or removing the possibility of re- ignition of a fire. The hazards of smoke and smoke characteristics will need to be understood to aid evacuation in smoke filled environments.
