CAA (CIVIL AVIATION) AERONAUTICAL RADIO OPERATOR
The target group is aimed at all personnel who operate radios on VHF. CAA Air Safety Standards are required to operate radios on the air band, e.g. HLOs, HDAs and standby vessel watchkeepers.
Aims & Objectives: The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Offshore Operator course covers VHF air band telephony skills ranging from call signs to distress procedures.

Practical: Following a series of explanations, demonstrations and opportunities to practice, delegates will be assessed against the competence standards relating to the practical elements of all exercises according to the lesson plan. Delegates will also be assessed on command and control along with radio procedures.
Assessment: Delegates will be assessed against the learning outcomes specified in section A.5 using direct observation and oral and/or written questions as appropriate.
