Fork Lift Training
This course is designed to instruct persons to safely operate Fork Lift Trucks or similar lifting equipment. The classroom segments include Health and Safety aspects, pre-start checks, safe work practices, load calculation techniques and certification in accordance with local legislation. Practical segments include inspections of the fork lift truck and its parts, verification of the load, transfer of load weight, placing loads and manoeuvrings.
Learning Outcomes:
1. Safety Aspects. General rules related to FLT operations.
2. Using the FLT safely. Best practices and methods of using the fork lift truck and the interpretation of the capacity chart.
3. Case Studies: A number of case studies involving accidents are discussed to warn participants against taking unnecessary risks.

It is a legal requirement to train workers required to operate such work equipment and machinery under legal notice 282 of 2004, regulations 3 (3.2) and 9 (a). Worker Training is also a generic requirement under Legal Notice 36 of 2003, Regulation 4 (3)
