Are you prepared ?

Whatever the event you are planning be it a reception, festival or sporting event it must be recognised
that we live in uncertain times and the potential for an incident, either natural or man initiated, must be in
our thoughts.
For those persons attending your event their objective is to be engaged, entertained and to have fun.
There is an unwritten responsibility placed on you, as the organiser, that their safety and protection will
be assured and in your hands for the duration of the event. Whenever there is a large gathering of
people even the smallest trigger event has the potential to very quickly escalate into a serious incident.
The Event Emergency Planning and Safety Management Workshop is designed to enable event
organisers to identify potential hazards, risk control strategies and organisational structures within an
Event Emergency Plan for the safety of all those attending.
● Understanding the wide range of emergency threats to be prepared for when staging an event
● Learn how to identify, analyse and prioritise aspects of organisational vulnerability relating to the
incident
● Focus on the components that make an effective Event Emergency and Safety Management Plan
● Participate in and evaluate a live table top exercise scenario
● Understand the preparations that need to be in place to prevent or limit the potential for an incident
● Understand the principles that should be applied to mitigate the consequences of an incident or
threat, to protect the life risk and optimise the recovery and return to normality
● Recognise the importance of an Event Emergency and Safety Management Plan, that is known and
implemented by all.

Day One
The first day of the workshop will provide an orientation on the legal and civil liability, and moral
accountability placed on event organisers, the importance of Event Emergency Plans and allow
delegates to fully understand the wide range of emergency threats they may to need to be prepared for.
Key components that must be included in an Event Emergency and Safety Management Plan will be
explored together with the process for identification of hazards, risk ranking and risk management
control strategies
By the end of the first day delegates will have developed a good understanding of the need for event
emergency planning, what is involved, and the responsibility for protecting public and staff. They will
have also began to identify organisational vulnerability at an event specific to their role, human behaviour
concepts and crowd management strategies.

Day Two
Day two of the workshop takes a more practical approach and provides delegates with the opportunity
to explore event organisational structures that need to be considered, analyse their own potential event
threats and start to create a framework to develop their own Event Emergency and Safety Management
Plan.
Our team will be on hand to provide advice and guidance during and after the workshop to support this.
During the afternoon on the second day of the workshop, teams will be immersed in a real live tabletop
exercise.
Delegates attending this workshop will develop the tools and techniques required to successfully plan
and stage an event that incorporates an effective Event Emergency Plan, they will understand how to
implement safety management strategies to protect those persons attending for the duration of the
event.
The workshop concludes with an introduction to the additional support structures and information
available to event organisers, followed by washup question and answer session.
